Scott Waite is a 24-year critical care registered nurse and is currently a Professor of Nursing at Signature Healthcare Brockton School of Nursing.
Scott began his education at the Brockton School of Nursing where he earned his diploma. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Curry College in Milton, MA. While in college, Scott became a nationally registered EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) through OEMS (Office of Emergency Medical Services) and gained first-hand experience in the field. At that time, he was also working as an Emergency Department Technician at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA.
After spending a year at Saint Luke's as a Registered Nurse, Scott decided to take his career on the road as a travel nurse. He gained further experience working in several ICUs as a Critical Care Nurse. His travels took him to California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco where he worked in the Vascular Unit. He then gained additional valuable experience working at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT, Rhode Island Hospital, and Tufts Boston where he was in the Heart Failure and Transplant Unit. Scott has also worked at Beth Israel Deaconess in the Vascular ICU, Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River's Cardio Vascular ICU, and Falmouth Hospital's Medical ICU. Additionally, Scott worked at the Mass General Hospital Neuro Step Down unit and Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital Medical ICU.
One of Scott's favorite programs he participated in was the Boston MedFlight mentorship program; where he became a critical care transport nurse.
Scott has also worked as a clinical specialist to support major Fortune 500 companies as a national speaker for infection prevention; one of which was 3M.
As he continued his education and gained further experience, he realized his true passion was teaching. Scott became a Professional Development Manager at Nantucket Cottage Hospital and worked there through the COVID pandemic. His two-and-a-half-year stay in Nantucket solidified his love for teaching and his love for Nantucket Island.
After leaving Nantucket, Scott obtained his Master's in Nursing Education at Capella University while working nights as a Professional Development Coordinator at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital.
Scott also held the position of Regional Director of Nursing in a Long-Term acute care facility.
However, teaching kept calling him back.
When given the opportunity to return to his alma mater as a Nursing Professor at Brockton School of Nursing, he felt as though he hit the lottery.
Scott is a Basic Life Support instructor (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor (ACLS) through the American Heart Association. Scott has his National certification as a critical care registered nurse educator (CCRN-K). He has also received the American Nursing Association award for a program that developed micro-sessions on recognizing triggers on early interventions for rapid responses.
When he isn't teaching (or learning), Scott enjoys spending time with his wife, Jenny, and their English Bulldog, Luna.
Scott often discusses why teaching is his passion, “Empowering others to recognize the capabilities in themselves, is the reason why I do what I do. Seeing students transform and become the best version of themselves, and knowing I had a part, is truly inspirational. Sometimes in life, we are called to help others. If we face forward, and not look down, we will always encounter a situation in which we can make a difference". Scott built MobileCPR4U with the vision that everyone can save a life.
Scott wants to empower EVERYONE to save a life.
